Chendul had always been penangites' choice dessert for a long time. It consist strips of smooth, firm green pandan noddles made from rice flour together with red beans, cocunut milk and shaved ice, all topped with gula melaka (black sugar syrup). Ais kacang is also served with shaved ice but with different toppings. The toppings are red beans, raisins, black gelatin, bananas, red/black syrup and evaporated milk. Some are also served with scoopes of ice cream. |

![]() Teochew Chendul has a history to be proud of. It was founded some 5 decades ago in 1945 by the lateTan Teik Fuang. Originally, Indians are the ones selling chendul but because the founder's tasted better, it quickly became very popular. Now, his three sons,Tan Chong Khoay, Tan Chong Seng and Tan Chong Kim succesfully run the business. |

![]() As the popularity of this dessert fast increasing, the Tan brothers had also brought their special treats to other parts of the country by opening new branches in other states. There are now 6 branches nationwide, all under strict quality control. So, it doesn't matter where there are, they all have the same great taste. Remember to look out for the logo ! |
